Q2 2020 Commercial Sales Report

There were 88 commercial real estate sales in the Greater Calgary Area in Q2 2020, a 20.0 per cent decrease from the 110 sales in Q2 2019. The total dollar value of commercial real estate sales in the Greater Calgary Area was $312 million in Q2 2020, a 7.2 per cent decrease from $336 million in Q2 2019.

**Greater Calgary Area includes Airdrie, Calgary, Chestermere, Cochrane, High River, MD of Foothills, Okotoks, Rocky View County, Strathmore, and Wheatland County.

Q2 2020 activity by category

Land: There were 19 commercial land sales in Q2 2020, which is an 17.4 per cent decrease from the 23 land sales in Q2 2019. The dollar value of land sales was $128 million in Q2 2020, a 40.2 per cent increase from $92 million in Q2 2019.

 

Office and Retail: There were 30 office and retail sales Q2 2020, which is up 15.4 per cent from the 26 sales in Q2 2019. The dollar value of office and retail sales was $52 million in Q2 2020, a 47.9 per cent decrease from $99 million in Q2 2019.

Industrial: There were 31 industrial land sales in Q2 2020, which is a 39.2 per cent decrease from the 51 sales in Q2 2019. The dollar value of industrial sales was $101 million in Q2 2020, a 9.4 per cent increase from $92 million in Q2 2019.

Multi-Family: There were 8 multi-family land sales in Q2 2020, which is down 20.0 per cent from 10 sales in Q2 2019. The dollar value of multi-family sales was $31 million in Q2 2020, a 42.0 per cent decrease from $53 million in Q2 2019.
